Gurugram, April 29
A local court granted granted bail to six men arrested by Gurugram police for disrupting namaz in Sector 53 on April 20.
This, however, did not pacify Sanyukt Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, which decided to organise a protest march tomorrow demanding not just withdrawal of the case against the six but also a ban on offering collective namaz in open areas.
The Samiti is a forum of Hindu outfits formed to take up the matter.
"We are happy that our demand of immediate bail for the men has been met but we want withdrawal of case and also a ban on offering namaz in open spaces without any official permission or approval," said Abhishek Gaur, district president of Bajrang Dal.
Protesters will gather at Kamla Nehru Park tomorrow and march to the mini-secretariat, where they will hand over their list of demands to the deputy commissioner.
On April 20, a video went viral showing six men of Kanhai and Wazirabad villages chasing away people offering namaz and raising slogans.
The Gurugram police identified and arrested six men on the basis of the video and produced them in court today.
