Residents of two HUDA sectors here have expressed resentment against enhancement notices issued to them by the HUDA authorities. Plot owners in Sectors 19 and 20 sat on dharna here on Sunday.
The plot owners said it was strange that they had been served enhancement notices due since 2007 in 2017. They said after a lapse of so many years, enhancement amount with interest had increased many times, which was unjustified.
Some residents said they had submitted memoranda to the state government on the issue in the past, but no action had been taken. They pointed out that the increase would be to the tune of Rs 7,000 per marla and plot owners would have to pay huge amounts to HUDA.
Harinder, president of the Sector 19 RWA, and Ram Bhagat, president of the Sector 20 RWA, threatened to start an agitation and resort to strong measures to catch the attention of the government. They sought immediate withdrawal of HUDA notices. Some residents complaint of bad roads and poor sanitation.
