PANIPAT: A youth has been booked for abetting the suicide of a 19-year-old girl here. The victim, Neeru (19) of Sat Kartar Colony, ended her life by hanging from a ceiling fan at her home on Sunday. She was a BSc student at Arya PG College. In her police complaint, the mother of the deceased alleged Siddhartha, who lived in the vicinity of the victim' home, had been harassing her daughter by repeatedly calling her on the phone. The accused has been booked under Section 306 of the IPC. TNS
Elderly woman found dead at home
Ambala: A 62-year-old woman was killed by unidentified persons at her home in Durkhara village on Monday. The deceased, Laxmi Devi, was alone at home. Though the motive behind the murder is not yet clear, deceased's husband Inder Kumar has raised suspicion on the involvement of a village resident. The body has been handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination at Civil Hospital, Ambala City. Mehar Singh, SHO Sadar, said a case had been registered on the complaint of the deceased’s husband. TNS
Man commits suicide after killing wife
Kurukshetra: A man allegedly committed suicide after stabbing his wife at Chalaundi village in the district. Sources said the police had found a handwritten note from the possession of Mangat Ram in which it was alleged his wife Reshma had an extramarital relation. Police sources said Mangat slit the throat of his wife around midnight on Sunday. Later, Mangat called up the police control room about the incident. When a police party rushed to the spot, Mangat was found hanging from a tree near the house. TNS
Man attempts suicide
Kurukshetra: Mitarpal, a 40-year-old resident of Gurugram, allegedly attempted suicide near Pehowa, on Monday. He was rushed to the PGI, Chandigarh, with critical burn injuries. Police sources said the victim had arrived Pehowa to take back his estranged wife Pooja. Later, Mitarpal allegedly poured kerosene and attempted self-immolation. TNS
2 held for assault
Kurukshetra: The Jind police have arrested two persons for allegedly attacking an RTI activist Sunil Kapoor. A police spokesperson on Monday said Vinay and Sunny of Sonepat district were held after an investigation. Vinay is also an accused of possessing arms illegally in another case. On April 5, Kapoor was attacked by a group of unidentified persons at his jewellery shop. TNS
