Police are yet to arrest the two youths who allegedly pushed two youths into a discarded well at Bhainsrawali village in this district on Monday night.
While one of them identified as Lalaram (21), a resident of Tigaon, died before the police reached the spot on Tuesday morning, the other victim identified as Vikas (20) suffered head injuries and is reported to be critical.
The two accused, one of them identified as Rahul, are absconding. All four had consumed liquor near the well before two of them were assaulted with heavy objects and pushed into the dry well.
The matter was reported to police on Tuesday morning when locals noticed a stranded motorcycle near the well.
Though the police with the help of locals retrieved the victims from the well one of them had succumbed to his injuries.
The police have registered a case and started a hunt to arrest the accused.
The cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained.
