The state Transport Department has issued instructions to suspend bus drivers found using mobile phones while driving.
Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar said here on Thursday that with a view to ensure safety of public, the department had issued directions to all general managers to suspend drivers found guilty of using mobile phones while driving.
Meanwhile, the state police will launch a month-long special drive from June 1, 2018, to strictly deal with traffic violators, especially motorists without helmets on the national highways in the state.
An official spokesman said in compliance of the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, all traffic violators, especially motorists without helmets, would be sensitised to abide by traffic rules.
Motorists, who will be found without helmet, including pillion-riders and triple riders, will face challans, including suspension of driving licences under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
