Panipat, June 5

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that Rs 3,000 pension would be given to elderly persons if the Congress was voted to power in the coming Assembly elections.

Addressing public meetings during second phase of his “Jan Kranti Rath Yatra” in Sutana, Lohari, Madlauda, Nara, Urlana, Seenk, Kurana, Ahar, Israna, Naulth and Dahar villages of the Israna Assembly constituency in the district on Tuesday, Hooda said residents of the area had always supported him. “I started my fight against the INLD from Panipat in 2001 and the public had supported us with 67 seats at that time,” he said.

Hooda said loans of the farmers and the poor taken from the cooperative societies would be waived on coming to power. The pension of the elderly, which would start from Rs 3000, would increase every year, he said.

He promised to restore the pension payments stopped by the BJP government. The pink cards of the BPL families would also be restored, he said.

He said traders had to face lots of problems after implementation of the GST and now people have abbreviated it as “Gai Sarkar Tumhari” (your government has gone).

He said the third phase of the “Jan Kranti Rath Yatra” would start from Mewat in the last week of the month.
