Spelling more trouble for self-styled godman Dati Maharaj, a witness in the rape case against him has approached the police, alleging being roughed up and threatened by his henchmen to withdraw statement.
Sachin Jain of Sector 49, one of the key witnesses in the rape trial, reported that his car was intercepted in the Sohna area on Thursday night.
He reported that unidentified men roughed him up and threatened him. An FIR was lodged at the Badshahpur police station.
According to the complaint, Jain was returning with his wife and daughter from his in-laws’ house in Sohna around midnight.
When they reached the golf course road extension, a car without registration plate bearing tinted glasses intercepted them, he said. Six men reportedly stepped out and threatened to kill him if he went to the media or court, he said. “They said I was being spared as Dati wanted to meet me on Sunday. We are in danger,” Jain told the police. — TNS
