The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), ideological mentor of the BJP, wants the Haryana Government to focus on holistic and scientific growth of cities with a long-term vision.

“Although development works are being accomplished by the government, more needs to be done in a planned manner,” said Pawan Jindal, state RSS second-in-command, on Monday.

“No matter which party is in power, the government of the day has a duty to improve people’s lot without any discrimination. Every individual of the country is an Indian and their welfare should be uppermost to all concerned,” Jindal said.

Citing Gurugram, he said its development had been haphazard, with about 6 lakh new residential units lying vacant. He said there was a sizeable population in the city which was unaccounted and with these  houses getting occupied in coming times, the demand on infrastructure would be immense.

He attributed the unplanned growth to development being purely driven by colonisers and builders. He  made a case for the government keeping a tab on large-scale migration to cities in Haryana. He said the identity of illegal migrants was also a cause for concern. “The RSS is a non-political organisation.  It abides by the ideology of nationalism. It does not discriminate between persons on the basis of social identity or allegiance to political parties,” he said.

“There are good people in all political parties. One can be a nationalist in spite of being associated with any political party,” he stated.

Without naming any political party or group, he claimed that an attempt was being made to divide society on the basis of  caste. He said rituals should be practised in a manner not to hurt the sentiments of people of other faiths.
