Kurukshetra, May 30
With 1,481 girls, the sex ratio in Bibipur village of Jind district has been recorded the best in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Amit Khatri said it was an outcome of the constant social awareness drive and strict implementation of the PNDT Act against gender determination. He said the administration would give a cash reward to three girl students in recognition of their academic achievements.
Dr Sanjay Dahiya, Civil Surgeon, said every year, the authorities identify a village with the highest sex ratio in each district. He said social organisations played an important in supporting the Health Department in sensitising villagers about the girl child.
