Kurukshetra, May 30

A district court has sentenced three persons to seven years’ imprisonment in an attempt-to-murder case.

The additional district and sessions judge Gurvinder Kaur has also imposed a penalty of Rs53,000 each on the convicts Avtar, Harshdeep and Ashish of Shahabad Markanda.

Their accomplice, Manmohan Singh, had died during trial in January.

On September 21, 2016, they had attacked Sukhwinder Singh with swords at the grain market in Shahabad Markanda. It was alleged that the assailants were agitated over a frivolous matter.

Sukhwinder was admitted to a hospital in Chandigarh in a serious condition.
