Man sustains burn injuries

Yamunanagar, May 30

A person sustained serious burn injuries when the compressor of a refrigerator exploded in a furniture factory at Dayalgarh village in Yamunanagar district on Wednesday.

The injured has been identified as Arshad (35) of Dayalgarh village. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Jagadhri, from where he was referred to PGI, Chandigarh, due to his critical condition.

As per information, the compressor of the factory exploded at 2:30 pm. Arshad was alone in the factory when the compressor exploded and got engulfed in the fire.

The factory is situated on the Dayalgarh-Amadalpur road. One of the villagers informed the police.

Hardepender Singh, SHO, Buria police station, said he immediately informed the ambulance after he was informed about the incident and reached on the spot.

He said the factory used to make firecrackers in the past. But, its owner, Arshad, stopped manufacturing firecrackers several years ago and started making furniture.

“The reason behind the blast is yet to be ascertained. The refrigerator is damaged, but we have also recovered explosives used in making firecrackers from the spot,” said the Station House Officer.
