Panipat, May 30
Residents of Sanoli Khurd village protested against Mahender Chawla, a key witness in the cases against Asaram and his son Narain Sai, at the Mini Secretariat here on Wednesday. They alleged that Mahender Chawla was harassing villagers and creating problems in development.
Protesters also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police against him.
Priyanka Sharma, village sarpanch, alleged that Chawla had threatened a contractor and misbehaved with villagers. She alleged that he was trying to harass her by filing an RTI against her. The sarpanch also alleged that he had demanded money for dissolving the RTIs.
She said a case had also been registered against him on May 21 for harassing her.
On the other hand, Mahender Chawla refuted the allegations and said the sarpanch and her father-in-law had lodged a false case against him. He demanded a CBI inquiry into the property and assets of the sarpanch and her family. — TNS
