Rohtak, April 30
The private schools in Rohtak district remained closed on Monday in protest against the alleged misuse of Rule 134-A of the Haryana School Education Rules and Right to Education (RTE) Act. The school owners have threatened to launch a statewide agitation in case the state government fails to act.
District president of Haryana Private School Sangh Ravinder Nandal said the school owners wanted to hand over a memorandum to Minister of State for Cooperatives Manish Grover, but he was not available. Later, they marched to the Mini-Secretariat and handed over a memorandum to their demands to the BDPO.
They demanded a thorough verification of the income and property details of the parents seeking to get their children admitted under Rule 134-A.
The executive members of the association, led by district coordinator Dr Ravi Gugnani, urged the BDPO to apprise the CM of their demands during his visit to the town on May 3.
“The private school-owners are being defamed by stating that they are not admitting students belonging to EWS or BPL families under Rule 134-A. In reality, the Rule is being misused by well off persons to evade the school fee by producing fake income certificates in connivance with government officials,” they said.
The school owners said they were collecting the details of property owned by parents of children who had applied for admission under Rule 134-A.
