Karnal, June 1

A day after a woman and her two daughters were burnt alive in their house here, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday visited Valmiki Mandir and offered condolences to the bereaved family.

A building in Ram Nagar here caught fire on Thursday following a short-circuit in a sofa-manufacturing unit. Pooja and her daughters, who were living on the first floor of the building, were burnt alive.

The Chief Minister assured Pooja’s husband, Raj Kumar, of help. “It is a great loss to the family and this cannot be filled,” he said.

Khattar, meanwhile, started a mass contact programme on the completion of four years of the BJP government at the Centre. He visited the houses of Prof JR Kalyana (retd) and social activist Padamsen Gupta, and presented them with a book related to the achievements of the Central and state governments.
