A day after the High Court quashed policies framed four years ago to regularise the services of contractual and ad hoc employees, the state government is weighing various options.
Manohar Lal Khattar government is considering legal as well legislative options to provide “relief” to affected employees with a view to avoiding backlash from the employees’ lobby.
While filing a special leave petition against the orders of the High Court is one option, providing special weightage to affected employees such as relaxation in age and experience is another.
Official sources said yet another option before the state government could be bringing in a legislation in the monsoon session of the Assembly to provide “relief” to employees.
This could be preceded by the setting up of a high-level committee to deliberate on the issue in detail for taking a final decision in the matter, the sources asserted.
The HC on Thursday quashed the regularisation policies framed by the previous Congress government headed by Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
The Chief Secretary’s office sought data from various departments on the number of employees to be affected in order to chalk out the government’s future course of action.
Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala claimed the government had neither put entire facts in the HC nor argued the case effectively. He demanded an ordinance for permanent status to affected employees.
What to do?
- Filing SLP in SC; relief unlikely as HC quoted an apex court judgment to quash policies
- Fresh recruitment with special weightage in age and experience to affected employees
- Bringing in legislation in monsoon session of Assembly to provide ‘relief’ to employees
