Karnal, May 31
Farmers of Kalvehedi and Newal villages have sought the compensation details of the land that the government wants to acquire for the expansion of Civil Aviation Club. The land belonging to these villages is adjacent to the club. They met SDM Narinder Kumar and handed over a memorandum addressed to the DC in support of their demands.
Inderpreet Singh of Kalvehadi village along with others alleged the current land acquisition policy was anti-farmer. He said that 280 acres was notified by the HSIIDC on e-Bhoomi portal on May 11 without quoting the rates at which it wanted to acquire the land.
“We want the city to develop, but we should be made aware about the rehabilitation package and the total compensation amount calculated according to the Act,” he maintained. We have requested the administration to ensure transparency in the acquisition process, he said.
We had approached the CM in this regard, but failed to get any satisfactory reply, farmers said. — TNS
