Two days after the murder of 28-year-old Love Johar, the police are still clueless about the whereabouts of the accused.

The Sonepat resident was murdered allegedly in an altercation after sending a message on a WhatsApp group on Sunday night.

Sonepat SP Satinder Gupta constituted four teams, including two special investigation teams, to arrest the accused.

“Love was killed after an altercation over a message on the WhatsApp group. Efforts are being made to nab the accused. Our teams are out to arrest them,” he said.

The police registered a case against Dinesh, alias Bunty Johar, his wife Geeta, their sons Shivam and Jatin and Dinesh’s brothers Rakesh and Mahesh, said Narinder Kumar, SHO, Civil Lines, Sonepat.

The incident took place after Love mistakenly shared a photograph of his family having dinner on the WhatsApp group of members of the Johar community in Sonepat instead of the Johar family group.

“There are two WhatsApp groups — ‘Johars’ family’ for family members and the other for members of the Johar community living in the city to connect with each other,” said Love’s brother Ajay.

“We were having dinner on Sunday night and clicked a photo of the family having dinner. It was accidentally shared on the community group instead of the family group. Dinesh started an argument and asked us to visit his house to discuss the issue,” he said.

He said Love and he, accompanied by their cousins Monu, Kamal and Umesh, went to Dinesh’s house to discuss the issue.

Dinesh and members of his family attacked them, leading to Love’s death on the spot, Ajay said. Monu, Kamal and Umesh sustained injuries in the attack, he added.

There was nothing obscene in the photo, said the SHO. Impatience to resolve the issue led to the tragic incident, he said. “We are trying our best to arrest the accused,” he added.
