World No Tobacco Day observed

Sonepat, May 31

The district health authorities organised a cycle rally, a health screening camp and a medical camp at Sushruta Health Centre in Murthal to mark World No Tobacco Day on Thursday.

The cycle rally started from the Civil Hospital. It was led by Civil Surgeon Dr JS Punia, District Nodel Officer of National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Geeta Dahiya, and District Consultant (NTPC) Dr Sonam. The rally ended at the Community Park in Sector-14 where the medical camp was organised.

Inaugurating the medical camp, Dr Punia said the theme for the year 2018 was ‘Tobacco Breaks Heart’. He said 2 crore people died due to cardiovascular diseases caused by tobacco consumption. — OC
