Yamunanagar, June 4
The post-mortem report of the six-year-old daughter of an employee of Congress leader and former Haryana minister Nirmal Singh points to sexual assault.
A panel of three doctors at the Yamunanagar Civil Hospital, who conducted the examination on Monday, concluded: “The cause of death is multiple injuries, including in the neck and genital area.” The body has been handed over to the family.
The victim had gone missing on Saturday. Throat slit, her blood-soaked body was found in a pit in a nearby mining zone the following day — the ferocity of the crime similar to the rape and murder of an 11-year-old in Surat in April. The body of the Surat victim too was found at a desolate place. It bore 80 injury marks. The post-mortem revealed she had been held captive, gang-raped, violated with wooden objects and strangled.
Magan Singh, the victim’s father, demanded death penalty for the perpetrators of the crime. Hailing from Jharkhand, he has been living with his wife and children at the Congress leader’s stud farm for the past six years, employed as a labourer.
The Khizrabad SHO, Lajja Ram, said three teams had been formed to crack the case. “We have rounded up several persons from the farm. The offender will be arrested soon,” he claimed.
Expressing grief over the “heinous crime”, Nirmal Singh said he would cooperate fully with the police and the case should be moved to a fast-track court.
