The police have arrested a 24-year-old youth for allegedly raping and murdering a five-year-old girl in Asawati village of the district.
According to information, the girl went missing from the shop of her father around 1.30 pm on Friday. However, the girl’s father was away at that time.
Sources said accused Virender, alias Bholu, who was working as a help at the shop, took the girl to his house on some pretext and raped her before stabbing her to death.
As relatives of the victim started searching for her and lodged a police complaint, neighbours got suspicious about the behavior of the accused and started a search of his house. They were shocked when they found the body stuffed in a drum filled with flour in the house.
The police said the accused was arrested before he could flee with the help of local residents. A case under Sections 302, 201, 365, 376 and 34 of the IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act had been registered against him, said the police.
Meanwhile, two cases of rape of minor girls have also been reported in Faridabad district in the past 48 hours.
The police arrested Avdesh (28) of Sanjay Colony for raping a seven-year-old girl in the Neharpar area on Wednesday night and booked a 45-year-old man for sexually assaulting his 17-year-old daughter in the Tigaon police station area last week.
