Ambala, June 30
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Selja on Saturday launched project Shakti in Ambala that enables Mahila Congress workers to have direct interaction with party president Rahul Gandhi.
Selja, while addressing Mahila Congress workers at Aggarwal Dharamshala in Ambala Cantonment, said, “It is a big initiative taken by the Congress under the guidance of Rahul Gandhi. Mahila Congress workers make sincere efforts for the party at the grass-roots level but sometimes they feel that they are being ignored and their views are not being valued. Now, they can directly interact with the senior leadership under the project”.
She alleged that, “Crime against women has increased under the NDA rule. Haryana is being called the rape capital of the country. The Congress has always given respect to women”.
Chitra Sarwara, secretary, All-India Mahila Congress, said, “Mahila Congress workers just need to send a text message to phone number 7996479964 from their personal mobile phones, giving their voter card numbers. They will be able to interact with the senior leadership under the project”.
Mahila Congress state president Sumitra Chauhan, district president Venu Aggarwal, rural district president Neelam Sharma were present.
A show of unity
It was a show of unity at the function, as local leaders belonging to the Hooda camp were also present on the occasion. Kumari Selja agreed to be the chief guest of an event to be organised under the chairmanship of Chitra Sarwara, daughter of ex-minister Nirmal Singh who belongs to former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s camp.
