18 health facilities certified

Chandigarh: The National Quality Assurance Programme has recently certified 18 health facilities in the state. Dr Sonia Trikha Khullar, executive director of the state Health Systems Resources Centre (HSHRC), was recently felicitated by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey. The urban primary health centre, Krishnanagar Gamri, Kurukshetra, is the first health centre in the country to have been certified. Of the remaining 17 health facilities, four are district hospitals in Panchkula, Gurugram, Faridabad and Rohtak, one community health centre at Gannaur in Sonepat, and 12 primary health centres in Panjokhara, Boha and Saha in Ambala, Pinjore, Kot and Barwala in Panchkula, Murthal in Sonepat, Raisina and Bhagal in Kaithal, Dayalpur and Chhainsa in Faridabad and Bhadson in Karnal.

Water helpline numbers launched

Rewari: The Department of Public Health Engineering has launched helpline numbers to resolve the problem of potable water in the district in the summer season. The numbers are 01274-260317 for Rewari city, 01259-275130 for Nahad Block, 01284-260062 for Khol and Bawal blocks. A toll-free number 1800-180-5678 has also been released. Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar said the people facing the problem of potable water could dial the helpline number for lodging their complaints. “Potable water will be supplied while acting on the complaint immediately,” he said. Sources said drinking water was supplied through tankers on daily basis in the villages, which face acute shortage of water in the summer season. 

Two new courses at Hisar varsity

Hisar: Two new courses of BTech in Electrical Engineering and BTech in Civil Engineering will be started in Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), from the new academic session 2018-19. The University has received an approval letter from the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, in this regard. Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the university, said they decided to introduce these courses in view of the demand of the young students. The VC Kumar said students from surrounding areas would be benefitted by these courses. In addition to two new courses, the AICTE has also extended approval for other technical courses being run in the university for the academic session 2018-19. Dr Anil Kumar Pundir, Registrar, said these two new courses would have an intake of 60-60 seats. The university will provide all necessary facilities to the students for smooth conduct of these courses. 

Stone of sewerage laid in Kaithal 

Kaithal: Pundri MLA Dinesh Kaushik and Deputy Commissioner Sunita Verma laid the foundation stones of a sewerage and Patwar Bhawan under the Mahagram Yojna at Pai village in the district recently. Later, they also inaugurated two newly constructed chaupals during a night camp organised by the district administration at Government Senior Secondary School. Kaushik said Rs 9.67 crore would be spent on the sewerage project, while Patwar Bhawan would be constructed at a cost of about Rs 6 lakh. Two chaupals had been constructed in the village at a cost of Rs 23.47 lakh. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would lay the foundation stones of an indoor stadium and an outdoor stadium, National Kabaddi Academy, and a veterinary hospital. Deputy Commissioner Sunita Verma said benefits of various welfare schemes were provided to people during the night camp that would help in bridging the gap between people and the administration.
