Ambala, May 30
Banking services were paralysed on Wednesday as staff went on a two-day strike demanding immediate wage revision settlement. They held a protest in front of the Central Bank of India in Ambala Cantonment in support of their demands.
PC Chauhan, treasurer, Haryana Bank Employees Federation, said, “After submission of the wage revision and related demands 15 meetings have taken place between the Indian Bank Association and the United Forum of Bank Unions. The bank management offered a meager 2 per cent increase in the wage structure of bank employees and officers which is an insult. If our demands are not met we will intensify our protest.”
The bank employees’ demands include early wage settlement, adequate increase in salary, improvement in service conditions and wage revision settlement to include all officers up to scale VII.
