An executive engineer (XEN) of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), Narwana division in Jind, has been found guilty of not depositing the provident and family pension fund contribution of its 167 part-time employees up to seven years from 2008 to 2015.
A judicial inquiry was conducted by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). On the basis of its inquiry report, the EPFO has now served a notice on the XEN asking him to deposit the due amount of Rs 1.38 crore in the PF account of the employees within the next seven days.
The inquiry was conducted following a complaint filed by an employee. Sources said the complainant accused the XEN of not extending benefit of social security to him and several other part-time employees since 2008 under the Employees Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provision Act 1952.
“Prima facie, we found the employees eligible to avail the benefit of the provident, family pension and insurance fund as per rules, hence a judicial inquiry was initiated against the division authority to determine the quantum of due payment of 167 part-time employees,” said Subarta Bhaumik, Assistant Commissioner (PF), Rohtak division.
Bhaumik said the authority was asked to submit its reply about non-remittance of provident, family pension and insurance funds of the employees up to seven years, but it failed to give satisfactory reply.
