A day after a 16-year-old girl was stabbed when she was returning home from a computer coaching class here, the police on Wednesday arrested a youth in connection with the incident. The accused, Gurmeet (23) of Jawa Colony, was produced in court that sent him to judicial custody.
The victim, Khushi alias Jaya, of Vijay Nagar was admitted to General Hospital. She was referred to PGIMS, Rohtak. Her condition was said to be serious. She is a student of Class X in Bal Vidya Mandir School.
She and her brother Nikhil (12) were returning from the class when a youth accosted them. The youth attacked Khushi with a weapon.
As the people saw the youth attacking the girl, they rushed towards her but he managed to escape. The police said Khushi was injured on the neck, hands, face and eyes.
Khushi’s father Bijender said, “My daughter is unconscious. I don’t know why she was stabbed. It will become clear when she gains consciousness.” Sub-inspector Rajesh Kumar said the accused told the police he had a financial dispute with Bijender. Bijender, however, had denied this, the SI said.
