Having formed special teams to curb vehicle thefts in the city, the police claim that the theft incidents, which had spurted in the last three months, have declined now due to special initiatives taken by the police.
Blaming it to be universal cosmopolitan phenomena, Commissioner of Police Sandeep Khirwar said that the police had been doing its best and it expected more responsibilities from residents and the civic authorities.
“Vehicle theft is a challenge, but it is not unprecedented. We have in fact taken several initiatives to bring down the theft cases. One of the major problems is illegal and irresponsible parking, be it due to callous attitude of the owners or lack of parking space but it make vehicles vulnerable. Though there is ample parking space in malls, but people prefer to park their cars on slip or main roads,” said Khirwar.
